1. Introduction
Heavy-Tailed Models, as an important topic that encompasses probability modeling and statistical inference, has been extensively studied and applied to many fields including finance, insurance and engineering. In order to promote the study of the topic and foster exchange and cooperation between colleagues, under the suggestion of Professor Yuebao Wang of Soochow University, we will hold The Second Workshop on Heavy-Tailed Models and Their Applications in the School of Mathematical Sciences of Soochow University on March 21-23, 2014. The workshop is sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial First-Rank Discipline of Statistics. Professor Foss Sergey from Heriot-Watt University and Professor Qihe Tang from the University of Iowa will give keynote speeches during the workshop.
2. Scope of Talks
We welcome talks on all theoretical and applied areas of probability and statistics with emphasis on heavy-tailed models and their applications to finance, insurance, engineering and related fields.
The working language of the workshop is English.
3. Schedule and Place
Schedule: Registration on the afternoon of March 21, meeting on March 22-23.
Place: Soochow University, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China
4. Submission
A proposal for a talk, written in English, one or two pages in length, including a title line, author name(s), institution, corresponding address, phone number, fax and e-mail, should be submitted to Dr. Jigao Yan at yanjigao@vnsclub.net before January 31, 2014.
