摘要：We show that the Thurston metric on the Teichmuller space of a surface with punctures is the limit (in an appropriate sense) of a family of metrics on Teichmuller spaces of surfaces with boundary, when the boundary lengths tend to zero. We use this to obtain a result on the translation distances for mapping classes.
