摘要:  Mean curvature flow is a nonlinear geometric heat equation that evolves a hypersurface according to its mean curvature vector. Mean curvature flow is a powerful tool to study problems in geometry and topology, and has wider practical applications. In this talk, intended for a general mathematical audience, we will introduce mean curvature flow, survey its classical results and recent development, and present some pressing challenges, especially those concerning the analysis of finite-time singularities in the flow.
