报告摘要:Franks-Misiurewicz conjecture is about the possible shape of a rotation set. It has several very rapid development in recent years, due to both huge recurring interest as well as totally new available tools.

The conjecture has three sub-cases, which describes different situations with very subtle differences. The current situation for them is very different. One sub-case is disproved by Artur Avila by providing an counter-example. The second sub-case was proved by Fabio Tal and Patrice le Calvez by a forcing theory for surface topological dynamics they developed very recently. The third case has been studied a lot, but is still open in its general statement.

We will discuss these current situation in some reasonable details and describe the new tools in this area. Finally, we will talk about possible future works.
