Sequences and arrays with perfect autocorrelationfunctions find applications in Statistical design of experiments, Signal Processing,Radar and Communication Systems and as aperture functions for electromagneticand acoustic imaging. In this talk, wegive some new construction methods for these interesting combinatorial objects.Several new families of these have been constructed by the speaker (joint workwith John Dillon and Kevin Player in the binary/ternary case). The constructiontechniques heavily rely upon the Stickelberger's congruence on Gauss sums. Theinequivalence of the new sequences follows by the p-rank calculations of theassociated matrices.
